World Ocean Day 2018

Protect our Future

Today is World Ocean Day and the Action Focus for this year’s event is, “Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean”. Highwave beats that drum loud and often, as cleaner land and waterways are a driving force behind everything we design. From our reusable drinking vessels, to our ocean energy technology, we are creating with the health of our planet and its inhabitants in mind.

Plastic in our oceans is poisoning our food chain, and affecting the health of everything that relies on water for survival. Disposable plastics are the main source of pollution. These items are used briefly but their remains last forever as plastic is a material that Earth cannot digest.

One of the easiest ways toward cleaner oceans is to refuse disposable plastics, and carry your own cup. Even if you only drink one cup of coffee or tea per day, switching to a reusable mug like the Roam or TEAmo XL, will save 23 pounds of waste each year. Prefer water to coffee and tea? Each day more than 60 million water bottles are thrown into landfills or incinerated, and that’s just in the US! Choosing a stainless bottle like our Time Capsule, or Apollo, will help you do your part in preventing marine litter for healthier oceans and a cleaner world.

Ready to make the switch for healthier oceans? Do it here!
